On March 5th, the National Association of African American Parents and Youth (NAAAPY) honored me with the opportunity to be their featured keynote speaker, which was a great pleasure. This event, held at the California Endowment Center in Los Angeles, California, was sacred, as I was fortunate to be surrounded by mostly African American women (and allies) who embraced, uplifted, and celebrated my message and me. After I finished speaking, these women created a circle and gathered around me. They stood together in solidarity as they prayed for me.
It is moments like these that reinforce for me that a higher power and something much more substantial than me has me on this journey. I am forever grateful. Thank you, Yolande Beckles, and Angela Jackson for sharing your brilliance with me, and for the wonderful work you are doing to uplift Black parents and children! I look forward to future collaborations!
