I have used this video in many training sessions over the years and find that it has been a mainstay/pillar in the continual understanding and education of systemic and institutional racism. John, along with so many others (James Baldwin, Medgar Evers, Bayard Rustin, Fannie Lou Hamer, Angela Davis, Fred Hampton, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Yuri Kochiyama, Hubert Harrison, Lerone Bennett, Jr., Nina Simone, etc.) were very evolved in their thinking; understanding, responding to and organizing against the oppressive effects of Whiteness. Challenging White Racism and Controlling Our Own Narratives

A friend and confidant recently shared a photo of the following excerpt which is from a school book currently being used in Texas (see below). I initially shared through one of my social media outlets with a comment that read, "It's all about who controls the narrative. If Whites and/or non-blacks (and I would now also add Blacks who have not challenged their own white indoctrination) tell the story, this is what we end up with."
